Welcome

Who are you? Understanding the answer to that question is the key to being the best possible you! Welcome to Hyde School, an independent college preparatory boarding school, that puts you — and your character — first. We value effort over achievement, attitude over aptitude, and who you are over what you can do. Why? Because we want to develop in our students the character and confidence needed to truly succeed—not just in college but in life. We will give you challeges you can handle, and then challenge you some more to help you stretch and grow. We will ask for your best all the time, and pretty soon you will start to demand it of yourself—academically, personally, socially, artistically, and athletically. The fact is, when you put character first, everything else falls into place.

At Hyde School Be The Best Possible You Hyde School was founded in 1996 premised on the belief that Every Individual is Gifted With a Unique Potential that Defines a Destiny. www.hyde.edu/about

What is Inner Leadership?

Your success in life is dependent upon the skills you possess in your inner core. What do you do when challenged? At Hyde School, we will help you develop an understanding of yourself, give you the confidence to speak up, and teach you grit and confidence when the going gets tough. We do this through a framework which we call “Inner Leadership.” A student develops their inner leadership when they • Have developed a sense of self; • A vision for the future; • Have the confidence to speak in public; • Are able to tackle challenges outside their comfort zone; and • Understand their family’s strengths & challenges

Learn Leadership On and Off The Field Hyde School understands that leadership comes from within and helps students on a path to self-discovery. www.hyde.edu/ilm

Learning Across The Curriculum The Academic Foundation You Need Hyde School’s college preparatory curriculum for students in grades 9-12, as well as postgraduates, offers a range of academic options, including Advanced Placement, Honors, and Academic Support courses. In small classes — the average size is 10 — Hyde School teachers seek to understand students as unique learners, every day asking their students, “What is the best that you can do?” Nurturing curiosity, persistence, and the capacity for deep reflection, Hyde also focuses on skill-building across the curriculum. One hundred percent of Hyde School graduates who apply are accepted to a four-year college or university.

In Your Classes Hyde School offers a dynamic Academic Support Program to meet the unique learning needs of studnets regardless of how they learn. www.hyde.edu/academic- support

Everyone Does Everything

A Well-Rounded Experience

Hyde School graduates are noted for their poise, self-assurance, and fearless willingness to embrace challenges of any kind. We think that is because all students at Hyde are challenged to engage in community life and in a variety of learning experiences beyond the classroom. Every student plays three seasons of competitive sports, participates in our performing arts program, does school wide jobs, and interacts with peers as part of a Discovery Group (their on-campus family). At Commencement, each senior writes and delivers a brief speech showcasing their individuality and growth as a student. The speeches are a demonstration of authenticity, confidence, and accomplishment. They are the culmination of one’s Hyde education.

In Your Community Character Matters At Hyde School, character is not an addition to the curriculum, it is the foundation of the curriculum. www.hyde.edu/character

Hyde School is for Families “We love Hyde School for all the support and guidance our family receives. Hyde helps students figure out their priorities, and it helps them take responsibility for their choices. It is a place that offers support on a very personal level, paying attention to the specific needs, challenges, and strengths of every student. We were amazed to find ourselves joining a very vibrant community concerned with the personal growth and well-being of every person, and as a family we are implementing the skills we have learned at Hyde. Hyde School is providing all of us with a truly valuable and
